چکیده

The study of the metaplasticity-based transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) protocols is an extensively studied approach to increase effectiveness stimulation. However, effects with different intervals between TMS blocks on cognitive functions are poorly understood. was aimed assess two theta-burst (iTBS) short and long working memory (WM) performance in healthy volunteers. A total 16 participants were underwent a single session each protocol, which applied random order (iTBS 0–15 — iTBS over left dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (DLPFC) interval 15 min followed by vertex area 60 after first block; 0–60 block DLPFC iTBS, min, second one; 0 one stimulation; control protocol three similar intervals). WM assessed using n-back test before third blocks. No significant or differences alterations results responder rates observed. trend toward statistical signficance reported for 0–15). Furthermore, low reproducibility individual effect reported. involving larger cohort volunteers taking into account other factors potentially influencing (number duration block) seems be promising.

Transcranial direct current stimulation based metaplasticity protocols in working memory.

BACKGROUND It has been already shown that delivering tDCS that are spaced by an interval alters its impact on motor plasticity. These effects can be explained, based on metaplasticity in which a previous modification of activity in a neuronal network can change the effects of subsequent interventions in the same network. But to date there is limited data assessing metaplasticity effects in cogn...

The influence of theta transcranial alternating current stimulation (tACS) on working memory storage and processing functions.

The study aimed to explore the role of the fronto-parietal brain network in working memory function--in temporary storage and manipulation of information. In a single blind sham controlled experiment 36 respondents solved different working memory tasks after theta transcranial alternating current stimulation (tACS) was applied to left frontal, left parietal and right parietal areas. Both verum ...

Enhancement of Visuospatial Working Memory by Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation (tDCS) on Prefrontal and Parietal Cortices

Objective: Previous studies have reported dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (DLPFC) and posterior parietal (PPC) activation during the performance of spatial working memory (SWM), so we decided to investigate the comparison of Transcranial Direct current stimulation (tDCS) effect between these two areas. Methods: Fifty-four healthy right-handed students (27 female, 27 male; age= 24.3±.2 years) w...
